Chhetri has blazed a trail by joining an Major League Soccer (MLS) club in the US, the humble City Club must be feeling a sense of pride.

One of India's most popular footballers, the Delhi boy became the first Indian to sign for an MLS team when he formally joined former champions Kansas City Wizards on Friday on a four-year deal. He made his' official appearance on Friday but still awaits his international transfer card and will miss Wizards Eastern Conference season opener against DC United on Saturday. Chhetri thus becomes the third Indian-born professional athlete currently in American professional team sports, with Pittsburgh Pirates minor-league pitchers Rinku Singh and Dinesh Patel being the other two.
